Coming to Florence is like discovering
treasure after a very pleasurable hunt through rolling Tuscan
countryside, olive groves and vineyards. An Aladdin's cave of
basilicas, frescoes and piazzas, it does not fail to seduce a
steady stream of admirers, year after year. Art, music, poetry
and all that the Italian Renaissance stood for back in the 15th
century are no less impressive in Firenze today. With Dante, da
Vinci and Donatello your household names, where better to learn
Italian that in the birthplace of its masters? Plus Points:
Charming traditional city
Wealth of art & architecture
Compact centre
Access to Chianti & Tuscany
Wonderful food & wine

there are regular trains from Pisa Airport to Florence to around
8pm and from Pisa City Centre to around 10.20pm (trains take over
an hour). However, if you miss these trains you will have to take
a taxi which will cost around 160 Euros each way. Also, if you
take the late train and are staying in a host family, you need
to let them know first that you will be arriving very late. In
most cases, it is much better to do your best to arrive on an

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time in
Florence. The school was very close, and I didn't have
any problems walking around on my own at night. I found
the otherstudents very friendly. The lessons were informative.
My conversational skills improved enormously as no one
spoke english perfect for me! Thanks again." (Catherine

Italian Course Florence: The School
The school was founded in 1982 and is
located right in the heart of the city, in a prestigious 17th
century palace. With windows overlooking the river Arno, students
can enjoy wonderful views of Florence as well as of the famous
Ponte Vecchio. There are 11 classrooms in all, each spacious,
light and comfortably furnished, and holding up to 120 students
during peak months. A friendly atmosphere is established from
day one with a welcome from teachers and staff and an introduction
to the many activities organised by the school during your time
there.
Out and About
Give yourself plenty of time to look round Florence if you want
to do it any justice at all. It would be impossible to list
even half the attractions, but why not start with the Duomo,
the Medici Chapel or the Uffizi Gallery, housing the world's
finest collection of Florentine art. Anyone who's read 'A Room
with a View' will also remember the Basilica di Santa Croce,
Michelangelo's final resting place. When all these places close
for the afternoon, however, it's surely time to recharge those
batteries in a local trattoria with some delicious Tuscan cuisine
and a glass of well-deserved Chianti.
