Italian Course - Tropea Info
Occupying the foot of the Italian boot
is Calabria, a region of unspoilt natural landscape, lush green
vegetation and virtually untouched beaches. On the bridge of this
foot, roughly where the shoe laces would be, is Tropea, a pretty
little town perched 42m above the deep blue Tyrrhenian. It is
about 10km north-east of Capo Vaticano and boasts the region’s
most attractive piece of coastline, with several long, sandy beaches
just a short walk from town. But you don't come here if it's action
you're after - yes, there are plenty of cosy trattorias and a
lively local marketplace, but Tropea is still small-town Italy
at heart. Plus Points:
- Quaint medieval town
- Proximity to beaches
- Plenty of outdoor activities
- 1 week courses available
- Airport transfer included

“I had a wonderful time in Tropea
- apartment was great, school was fun, met some lovely
people, weather was excellent as were the beaches....
really don't want to be back at work. Never mind, my Italian
has improved, which was the whole point.” (Rebecca Newton) |

Italian Course Tropea: The School
The school is situated in a charming,
traditional house in the heart of Tropea. Classes are held inside
or on the terrace outside, overlooking the sea. The teachers are
all native speakers and devote half of class time to grammar exercises
and half to developing students' communication skills, to help
you gain confidence with your Italian as quickly as possible.
Background information on Italy and its culture, achieved through
the use of up-to-date texts and other materials, is then the perfect
compliment to your studies. Out
and About
Tropea never fails to charm with its romantic, winding streets
and delightful cafés selling fresh, local produce. The
same fruit and olive groves that fill your basket are just on
the outskirts of town and make ideal places for walking, with
quiet side roads providing safe and scenic routes for mountain
biking. Further afield, the archaeological museum in Reggio
Calabria and the volcanic island of Stromboli make for popular
excursions. The Aspromonte Massif also offers breathtaking views
of Sicily - or alternatively take the short trip across the
water and set foot on the island yourself.
